CERIecon Finals Venice 2018

Young entrepreneurs from all around Central Europe competed against each other on 20nd and 21rd of September 2018 as part of "Wannable Start-ups" contest in Venice. The teams showed their extremely diverse business ideas in front of an international jury.

Kern Tec for the economic innovation area, and New Austrian Coding School for the social innovation area are the two winning start-ups, both from Austria: they were awarded on September 20th 2018 in Venice, at the cultural centre “Don Orione Artigianelli”, during the Start-up competition “Wannabe Start-ups!”, part of “CERIecon: CENTRAL EUROPE Regional Innovation Ecosystems Network”, the European project financed by Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE 2014 -2020, the European territorial cooperation Programme.

The Region of Veneto, with the Department of Labour as a partner of the project, organized the event in cooperation with Enaip Veneto, hosting the local Playpark, which is the regional experimental training centre in support of the creation of enterprises.

“The cooperation project –Elena Donazzan, the regional Labour and Education Councillor underlines - was an important exchange and challenge situation for those young entrepreneurs who took part in CERiecon in the seven involved Regions, and organized a real competition between the best 16 entrepreneurial ideas of local Playparks (Bratislava, Brno, Krakow, Rijeka, Stuttgart, Verona and Vienna). The competition was organized in two parts, one for social innovation start-ups and one for economic innovation start-ups, in order to endorse two dimensions of the creation of new companies.”.  

Venice Ca’ Foscari University and H-Farm, a start-ups accelerator, took part in the final, together with two successful enterprises based in Veneto: Progetto quid making clothes from recycled fabric and using disadvantaged labour and Veasyt live proposing interpretation on line.

The next "Pitching final" will take part in Vienna, Austria.
